MEGAFORCE RECORDS Founders Talk About Wanting To Sign MEGADETH In Early '80s
May 31, 2007The makers of "Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal", the much-anticipated documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have posted a video clip of Jon and Marsha Zazula, founders of Megaforce Records, talking about how they wanted to sign MEGADETH after Dave Mustaine parted ways with METALLICA. Watch it at this location (Windows Media).
Due on DVD before the end of the year, "Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal" will be screened in three cities during June — Saturday, June 2 at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, Sunday, June 3 at the Hoboken International Film Festival and Friday, June 22 at the Staten Island Film Festival.
"Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal" is the story of bands like METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX and how they, and others, pioneered a new form of heavy metal in the early 1980s. This new music was called "thrash metal" and many of the bands went from playing friends' parties and small clubs to touring the world and headlining arenas. Along the way, there were drugs, drinking, fights, deaths, mosh pits, leather jackets, long hair and most of all — groundbreaking new music. Eventually, the scene fell apart, but the seeds these bands planted gave rise to the new breed of extreme heavy metal we see and hear today.
"'Get Thrashed' made me feel like I was looking into a scrapbook of my musical life," said ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello. "The film gets it right and makes you feel the vibe and pulse of this music that we all know and love."
